I cannot get Orvis women's canvas felt soled wading boots anymore. Nothing else has been light enough for me to wade. I am older and other boots are clunky. If I wear a women's size 8.5 or 9, what size should I order in these boots? Can I wear a wool sock with them for extra warmth and padding? Thank you!525850

Hello, These are in men's sizing. The size you chose will also depend on how thick of a sock you end up with. If you are able to find your EU number, this will be the best number to find your correct size. EU sizing is most universal and is based off a physical measurement. You can sometimes find them on a little chart on the inner label of your boots, sometimes on the tongue. As for wearing wool in water, that will be your personal choice. It does not retain water like a cotton sock would however, once the wool becomes fully saturated it will match the temperature of the water you are in. I would recommend looking into some neoprene socks that are designed to keep you nicely insulated in your boots in the water. I would be happy to suggest some neoprene socks as well. They can go all they way up to 7mm thick.
