I have never had problems having water in the ear even living in the water from being a kid. Last year thought I got Spinal Meningitis which started after a dive in my ear canal. I now have a Pro Ear Mask and there is no way you can put a normal hood over it. If you dive in cold water this is a must have. It has an inner and outer layer. The inner layer has holes to allow for the ear covers to stick through and yet keep your head warm. The outer layer is a complete cover but is baggy enough around the ears to allow it not to squeeze the ear covers against your head. At the time of this review the picture shown only shows the inner layer over the head.
