HEAD by Mares Volo One Open Heel Fins

The Mares Volo scuba fin is a gigantic leap forward in fin technology.

This fin is so revolutionary; it is covered by 8 different patents. The Volo uses Mares Optimized Pivoting Blade system (OPB); the Volo is 30% more efficient than traditional fins.

  • The OPB allows the blade to maintain an optimal angle throughout the kicking cycle, whereas traditional fins achieve this only during a small portion of the cycle, OPB produces a constant thrust, which minimizes fatigue and produces fluid movement through the water. The Mares Volo also allows you to use alternate kick strokes not possible with splits fins.
  • The Volo Super-channel is designed for the diver who wants the perfect blend of power and efficiency in one fin. The new blade design with a large central Super-channel and two traditional lateral channels provide excellent thrust while maintaining hi-efficiency and minimizing leg fatigue. The blade is constructed of Tecralene and Thermoplastic rubber for extended durability.
  • The ergonomically designed foot pocket delivers maximum power and evenly distributes pressure over the foot to minimize fatigue. The foot pocket interior features internal ribbing that improves fit, eliminates foot suction and prevents foot pocket flexing, while transmitting more power to the blade
  • Volo uses Mares patented design ABS Plus Buckles (Adjustable Binding System). It only takes one quick movement to easily open or close these buckles, even when wearing thick neoprene gloves. The double button release prevents the buckles from accidentally opening making them the most user friendly system on the market.

Mares Head Snorkeling Volo One Fins
PRO: These are the best fins I've ever tested. The quality and design adapts very well to changing kicks with ample speed. The O2 consumption is very minimum and no slippage inside the foot pockets. A fin worth every cent invested. No leg fatigue nor foot abrasions with this fin. Can be worn with thin lightweight booties.

CON: Don't expect a lot of initial forward thrust, but once you gain speed, it's a charm.

I recently purchased a pair of Volo One fins. As there are no instructions, I am confused by the insert in each fin. It is removeable. It is uncomfortable to leave in. What is the use of these inserts? Please advise. Bernie

Hello and that is a good question. Those inserts are for when they are not in use to help keep the foot pocket's shape. Thanks for your question. Bill

Us size 13 wide When I select size is gives the option ml/XL ?. I would like to order the XL according to your size chart. Will these fins fit a wide foot ?

Hello and thanks for your question. The L/XL is the size that is combined to go up to size 13. Since this is the top end of this it will be close especially if you have a wide foot. I would suggest that you measure your foot length and width and we can see if this will work for you. Thanks, Bill
