The classic downstream piston configuration is the simplest mechanism that exists to control the pressure drop from a tank to feed the second stage. The classic downstream valve is the first choice of diving centers and rental facilities worldwide for warm and moderate water temperatures.

This first stage epitomizes reliability and simplicity. Its standard Flow-By-Piston design is ideal for divers who don't want to get bogged down with an overwhelming amount of bits and pieces, but still want the peace of mind that comes with a sound piece of equipment.

This first stage is equipped with Scubapro's Extended Thermal Insulating System (XTIS), which will keep your first stage functioning properly, even in frigid water. The R195 second stage has Scubapro's a Venturi Initiated Vacuum Assist (VIVA)-patented system. The VIVA uses the power of a vacuum assist to reduce work of breathing and increase breathing comfort. It is diver-adjustable on all current Scubapro second stages.
