Cressi MC9 Ellipse Balanced Scuba Regulator

Pairing of balanced and adjustable 2nd stage Ellipse Balanced with the hyper-balanced 1st stage MC9.

Thanks to the performance and the highly technological content of both stages this regulator is placed at the very top of the Cressi range. The user can adjust both the inhalation effort and the Venturi effect (dive / pre-dive) at any time during the dive.

A small lever, located in the upper part of the casing, acts as a flow deviator and allows the Venturi effect to be adjusted. When placed in position (-) it functions as pre-dive, for getting into the water and the first stages of the dive, whilst when moved to (+) it allows the regulator to develop its maximum performance. An internal heat exchanger optimises the performance of the regulator even in cold waters. The special study of air flows inside the casing has meant that absolutely natural, smooth and very silent breathing has been obtained. The standard release baffle can be directly replaced by the user for a larger model which pushes the bubbles further way from the diver’s face. The possibility of quickly removing the entire mechanical part from the casing significantly aids maintenance operations.

  • Hyper-balanced Diaphragm 1st stage with highly technological content that places it at the top of the Cressi range.
  • Very light body covered by a protective elastomer shell.
  • Cylinder sheathed in an antifriction and anticorrosion material that guarantees perfect sliding of the piston and long maintenance intervals.
  • The nozzle, made from 316 stainless steel, can be easily replaced, thus ensuring perfect air-tightness, even after many years of use.
  • Advanced research on the passage of internal air and a special assistance chamber have enabled the drop of pressure upon inhalation to be kept to a minimum, thus guaranteeing high performance in any situation.
  • Hyper-balancing allows for an increase of the intermediate pressure at maximum depths and lowering of the pressure in the tank, offering higher performance during the delicate ascent phase and at maximum depths. DIN 200/300 bar fitting in stainless steel which prevents deformation of the thread in the event that the regulator suffers any falls.

  • Many of the exclusive technical characteristics of Ellipse, covered by 4 international patents, have been transferred to this new second stage.
  • Ellipse Balanced has a slightly larger casing which is made from a sound absorbing material, and a new diaphragm that further improves the already very low inhalation effort of Ellipse.
  • The weight is very low (the lightest in the category).
  • The pneumatic balancing system of the piston allows for constant performance at any depth and with any air pressure in the tanks.
  • An easy grip knob allows for the instant adjustment of the inhalation effort, even when wearing gloves, thus regulating it as first regulator or as spare regulator depending on the preferences of the user and the required use.
  • The regulation system is protected by a double seal and is fully protected from contact with water, thus maintaining smooth rotation even over time.
Cressi Ellipse Octopus

Excellent breathing performance.

With all the technological innovation and easy maintenance features of the Ellipse second stage, divers never have to settle for reduced performance from their safe second.
Large, elliptical shaped diaphragm provides a natural mechanical advantage for easier breathing yet feels streamlined and unobtrusive.

  • Dive/pre-dive adjustment switch manages Venturi effect to prevent freeflow at surface.
  • Internal heat exchanger helps reduce freeze-ups in cold water.
  • Elliptical casing uses a fold out opening and instant cam-lock closure for fast access and maintenance.
  • A special folding diaphragm is uses a large, computer designed regulator lever.
  • The second stage case can be quickly separated from internal components for faster, easier maintenance.
  • High-visibility yellow markings make these second stages easy-to-see for use as an octopus or safe-second.
  • Long, 36-inch yellow hose included with each for additional visibility and easier air sharing.

Way more product for your money!
The breathing effort of this 1st and 2nd stage combo is by far the easiest I have ever used. I have used the BC prior to purchasing it and I like it a lot.The integrated weight pockets are very simple to remove and reinstall, even at depth. I did notice that this BC is slightly more buoyant than others, and requires a little more weight. The Cressi Leonardo dive computer is very simple and easy to use, offering some great features that you can only find in much more expensive dive computers. The customer service from onlinescuba is the best experience I have ever had shopping. I feel like I have actually met each and every one of the sales staff, and for that I thank you!

Hey There, If you are looking for a set up that you can use for recreational diving then the one you are looking at is perfect but also good for travel. Based on your selection I would suggest that you consider how often you will be diving as well as your budget. This is a good set up but we need to get you into a 3XL BCD. Feel free to call us at 1-866-728-2293. Thanks, Bill PADI Master Instructor

Hi, this is my first time buying equipment. A lot of other websites has the option between the yoke and din when buying a regulator but yours doesn't. Which is the standard for this package? I apologize ahead if the answer is obvious somewhere.
Answer by kayla
on 4/11/2014
Hello, Thank you for your inquiry and welcome to Scuba Diving! No apologies necessary, the answer is not an obvious one. The standard yoke version is what we advertise with our package as this is the most common version used. People rarely order the DIN version as this is used predominately for tech diving. If you need the DIN version please let us know. If we can help you with anything else please let us know. Thank you and I hope you have a marvelous weekend! Hello, Bill one of the instructors here, based on your weight I am thinking that you are really in-between sizes and I am thinking that you are really in-between sizing and could go either way. If your body style is normal and you have a bit of a stomach then maybe XL will be a better choice, please advise and we will go from there for you. Thanks, Bill

Hi, I am liviing in austrtalia and am keen to get into diving a lot more frequently and was thinking of getting my own gear. I have done about 25 dives and have my open water cert. Please can you advise on what all I would need / what you recommend to get started ? I don't mind spending a bit more only if it will genuinely be worth the extra for a novice diver. Many thanks and look forward to doing business

Hi and Welcome to Scuba!! This package is one that we sell allot of due to it being a "travel" package, but we also sell allot of the Aqualung packages as well as the Mares ones. Lets start with, what kind of diving will you be doing and how often? We can sort out the rest I hope from there. Thanks, Instructor Bill
